Some days it’s hard to get out of bed on cold mornings…
After months of planning, and despite last minute drama, I managed to break away for a week and enjoy Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons for a week with some college friends. It would doubly nice as it turned out to be far cheaper than I had planned on. Go case of ramen and tent camping!

The temperatures were just right, and I think we managed to get in just before the big summer rush. Nevertheless, there were a number of people there.
I think we managed to see almost every animal the park hosts, from midnight wolves crossing the road, to elk, deer, moose, bison, and black and grizzly bears. I managed to get a few photos of critters, but I think this one is my favorite:
It’s good to be back home, but I wouldn’t mind just going back to Wyoming for a few more weeks!
You can find more pictures, both from my camera and my friend’s cameras (as they upload them), here.
p: heheheh
p: i thought hamsters have longish fur
h: teddy bear hamsters do
p: hamsters should be bred for meat.
h: they would make great afternoon snacks if it wasn’t for all the bones
p: well if they can make seedless grapes…
Packing up to head back to Utah in the morning. Spike always finds a way to climb into one of my bags. I think it is a hint. I’m not sure he would actually make 2 minutes on the bike though…
I’m going to Farmington tomorrow, staying with Chris and his family there, as Chris is headed up to visit. Going to ride up into the Jemez, and then take ‘highway’ 126 over the mountain to Cuba. I say ‘highway’ because it is closed in the winter since it is entirely dirt road. Should be fun. The V-Strom is tuned up and will soon be packed up as well. Thursday morning I am headed to Utah. Should be fun.
Didn’t do a lot today, just manned the couch. Lucy and Sandy (Lucy is on the right) are taking advantage of the lazy day by camping out on the back of Brian’s couch. Brian had a birthday yesterday, and we all went out to Sizzler tonight to celebrate. I had a big bowl of ice cream. I hadn’t been to a Sizzler in years, but, as it was then, it was the best part of the whole deal. We spent a while at his folk’s place watching a movie and eating cake.
Wet and overcast here still. They say it will clear up middle of the week, in time for me to head out again. I’d like some rain, but not the whole way.
