In yet another installment of my continuing series of reviews of overlooked movies, I review the 1973 Woody Allen movie ‘Sleeper‘.
Netflix felt I should see this movie, and who am I to argue with the Netflix movie guessing AI? I mean, it is vaguely better than having an angry monkey hurl DVDs at me, but with a lot less of the unsightly facial blemishes the next day. I haven’t really seen much Woody Allen, so I was somewhat interested in seeing this flick.
Amanda, who was taking a break from playing The Game That Must Not Be Named, informed me that Wikipedia told her it was loosely based on H. G. Wells novel The Sleeper Awakes. She then proceeded to poke fun at me for choosing to watch such an obscure Woody Allen movie, and for the fact I have not seen any Woody Allen movies. Well!
Continuing in my series of low quality movie reviews, I just finished watching ‘Phil the Alien‘.
Apparently set in Canada, this is a movie about Phil (the alien) landing on Earth, getting introduced to hard liquor, talking beavers, and Jesus, before going bezerk and deciding it is time to go home.
Yeah, really. Trust me, it sure sounded better in the Netflix description.
I’ve decided that now that I have easy access to lots of movies via Netflix Instant Watch and my new Roku box, I might take a bit of time to review some of the lesser known but ‘recommended for you’ movies out there.
I’ll start with a movie called ‘Beer Drinkers in Space‘ (better info here). Netflix recommended this movie to me because I apparently enjoy B-grade movies about outer space. I started the playback of the movie, which alerted me right away that the last 45 minutes of the movie had been cut because the actors were just too drunk and it didn’t make any sense. Well, this should be good…
I haven’t ridden a bike or went hiking in forever, and it has annoyed me greatly. I went down to REI and bought a basic bike trainer, and setup a workout area in the basement the other day. I attempted a workout on Friday and it went pretty well, though I had to stop after 35 minutes because my right leg was cramping too bad to continue.
However, I felt great afterwards. I’m looking forward to doing it again soon
Another geeky post.
