I just got in from being out on the town tonight, and thought I would post a quick update. Traffic out here is… different. No matter what, Chicago drivers want to be in the lane that is moving a tad faster or is more open. Makes it hard to engage my squid side and weave through the traffic on the bike like I’m trying to outrun a blast wave. But, it sure is fun all the while. We went downtown tonight on the bike, and it was entertaining tooling around with the one ways and taxi cabs. Good thing the bike is water cooled with a fan, it took to it well, and I’m getting comfortable with the traffic here.

Both looking forward to leaving and not. I’ll put up a post with actual explanations, but for the time being, check out my photos from the other day of touring the city with friends.

Yeah, a long overdue update. I finally have an afternoon where I don’t have to be somewhere or out doing something, so I’m taking advantage of it to update you chumps with what I am doing.

I left out of Brian’s place just north of Salt Lake City in Layton, UT around 9:30am last Friday. Taking it easy, enjoying the road. The bike was running well, zipping along the interstate at 80-85 for the most part. Wyoming quickly came and went. I wanted to pull off to get a picture of the sign, but I missed it due to the sign being at the end of an on ramp for the weigh station. Ah well.

Finally arrived in Madison last night. Sitting on Ryan’s back porch now, away from the smoke, watching him and Amanda laugh at something interesting on his computer, across from me. The porch is indeed as described.

2300 miles so far on the bike.

I have a multitude of pictures and a long, rambling story to tell. But, I thought I would slap a brief update up in the meantime.

Rode the bike into the lab yesterday, and I ended up beating Brian home, so I went for a ride around sunset. I saw this view and had to get a shot. Sorry the panoramic ended up not looking so hot, but hey, I rather liked the view. I have some updates from the weekend, but I am still working on that post, so I’ll have it here soon. Getting back on the road on Friday, wheee!

Didn’t do a lot today, just manned the couch. Lucy and Sandy (Lucy is on the right) are taking advantage of the lazy day by camping out on the back of Brian’s couch. Brian had a birthday yesterday, and we all went out to Sizzler tonight to celebrate. I had a big bowl of ice cream. I hadn’t been to a Sizzler in years, but, as it was then, it was the best part of the whole deal. We spent a while at his folk’s place watching a movie and eating cake.

Wet and overcast here still. They say it will clear up middle of the week, in time for me to head out again. I’d like some rain, but not the whole way.
