I’ve been busy the last day or two here. Amazingly, I’ve gotten a lot of client work done, but nothing has happened on the house. I had hoped to have my lab somewhat in shape by this weekend, but that is not looking like it is going to happen.
Kija has sold or is selling her bed to someone she works with. I had hoped it would have been gone on Tuesday, but the house was a mess so I postponed it so ‘we’ could clean. Which meant, Kija got disgusted with cleaning 20 minutes in and went to bed. So, then I was hoping the bed would be gone Wednesday, but the person forgot. And then, I was hoping it would be gone Thursday, but, yeah, I dunno. The reason? Once it goes, I can move the ‘small’ couch into Kija’s room and free up some room in the lab. I’m hoping this will be the kick in the pants I need to get in there and clean on it, as I don’t really have any walking room right now, and it is bugging me. I still managed to get one project out to a client, but with too much annoyance.
Spike has really taken to playing with these little fake mice I bought him. He pops them all around the room, sometimes carrying them in his mouth. I tried to get a shot of him with one in his mouth, but he was camera shy. The focus mechanism is probably pretty loud to him, so he’d stop and watch me every time I re-focused.
Spike gets really excited about me eating carrots. I give him a little bit sometimes, but he just wants to sniff it and bat at it. Kind of like milk for him… he just wants to sample it, but something in his little kitty brain tells him he desperately needs it. This is OK by me, but tonight, whilst batting a little hunk of carrot around, he knocked over a brand new can of Dr Pepper. I cleaned it as best I could, I hope the floor doesn’t get sticky. Silly cats.
Friday is the opening game for the Scorpions, the New Mexico hockey team. I’m looking forward to going. I was hoping for a bigger turn out of friends to go to this game, but I think a lot of them have become disenfranchised with hockey. The team has not played in a year’s time, as they were building a new stadium. I hope it is better than Tingley, which I think is a big part of why most of my friends don’t go to games anymore. Sometime this season I need to pony up for a jersey. Maybe I’ll get one for a different team just to be silly. Who knows.
Forecast of snow this weekend-ish. Part of me really wants to see it, part of me does not. I’ve become really used to riding the motorcycle -everywhere- (and dropping it on the rocks too, apparently) and I don’t want to have to put it away for the winter. I got a bandana sort of thingy that is waterproof, and that has helped me remain warm at least down to 45 degrees F. I can do 10-15 miles in jeans with my leather jacket in this kind of weather, which is good for short trips into town. The time will come soon that I will have to put on the riding pants even if I want to go into town. I hope to put it off for a little while.
I fired up the old bike today. Took a couple of kicks, but it popped right over. Warmed it up, and rode it to the store to get some hardware for an antenna mount I was working on. Came back, parked, and found I had the wrong size pipe adapter. So, I rolled it back out again, fired it off, and started to take off, but it died. I messed with it a bit, got it running, and made it to the end of the street. Let off the clutch, it died. I roll started it, and then it died. I stopped, and kicked it until it became cranky (that is, it started kicking back at me), at which point I gave up. I don’t need a repeat of the Kick Starting Accident. I ended up pushing it back home and back into the garage, and took the V-Strom instead. It has yet to fail me, knock on wood.
I’m going to take the V-Strom down to Albuquerque on Friday, possibly catch up with a client there about a printer, and stay over night at Kija’s Mom’s place. Kija and her Dad are driving up to Denver Saturday to a football game. I’m going south to Socorro to hang out for a day or two. Brian is coming into Albuquerque from Phoenix and I’m going to meet up with him at Kija’s Mom’s place and leave my bike there, and then ride up to Salt Lake City for a few days to get a project underway for him. I’ll be flying back on Thursday, and with luck, Bill will pick me up from the airport and take me to get my bike so I can ride back home, provided the ground hasn’t frozen solid. Too bad they don’t make chains for bikes, hah.
Well, it is nearly 4 in the morning on Friday as I complete this long rambling post. I hadn’t updated in a couple of days, so I felt I should do something. I hope you learned something today that doesn’t include never coming back here, hah.
