So, chalk another one up for Muffy. We’ve had a few mice in the house lately, now that it is getting cold out. We found one beheaded outside the bedroom one morning. A few weeks later there was commotion in the living room, with Muffy bolting after something squeaking. She caught it, and I took it away from her. Later that night she got yet another one!

Well, this afternoon, Spike and I discovered a mouse in the living room. We chased it around the living room, Benny Hill style, for about 20 minutes before it disappeared into the couch somehow. We let it be, as it would come out eventually. Around about 10pm, I spotted something small and furry on the top of the couch. I pointed it out to Spike and went to get my towel to scoop it up, but it had already bolted back under the couch. The cats then setup a perimeter around the couch, waiting for the poor little thing.

Around 2am, there was another commotion, and out comes Muffy with legs sticking out of her mouth. I caught her before she could go find somewhere to release the critter, and carried her outside, which turned out to not be the brightest idea. I forced her to drop the mouse, which took some work, and the mouse ran off into the darkness. Muffy REALLY wanted to go after it, and scratched my hands up pretty bad trying to get away from me.

So, thus ends the tale of another successful mouser. I’m sure this will not be the last one of this season.
